Two Carpentersville men have been arrested in relation to a shooting Sunday evening that left a man hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
At 6:42pm Sunday evening, Elgin police officers responded to the 500 block of North McLean Boulevard for a reported shooting. Officers arrived on scene and located an adult male subject with apparent non-life-threatening injuries who was subsequently transported to an area hospital.
The identity of the injured man has not been released.
After an investigation of the incident, two 18-year-old males from Carpentserville were arrested and each charged by the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office. The first was charged with Aggravated Battery with a Firearm, a Class X Felony; Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, a Class 1 Felony; and four (4) counts of Aggravated Unlawful use of a Weapon, a Class 4 Felony. The second was charged with three (3) counts of Aggravated Unlawful use of a Weapon, a Class 4 Felony.
Both suspects were transported to the Kane County Jail on Tuesday for a pre-trial detention hearing where the judge ordered the first to remain in custody and the second to be released pending future court dates.
This was the 28th reported gunfire incident in Elgin this year.
