On Thursdayk, Elgin police and the Chicago Field Division of The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF) raided a house on the city’s west side and found illegal guns and made multiple arrests.
At approximately 6:00am, Elgin police officers and ATF personnel executed a search warrant in the 1600 block of Mulberry Court. Multiple subjects were safely taken into custody. The warrant was result of a joint investigation by the two agencies.
After further investigation, the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office charged a 31-year-old Elgin man with two (2) counts of Armed Habitual Criminal (Class X Felony); four (4) counts of Possession of a firearm by a felon (Class 2 Felony); two (2) counts of Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon (Class 2 Felony); Possession of a Firearm by a street gang member (Class 2 Felony); two (2) counts of Possession of a firearm – No FOID (Class 3 Felony); Sale of a Firearm – No FOID (Class 4 Felony); and Obstruction of Justice – Destroying Evidence (Class 4 Felony).
The subject was transported to the Kane County Jail on Friday, March 29th for a pre-trial detention hearing where the Judge ordered him to be detained pending a future court date.
