Elgin Police Seek Assistance In Fatal Hit-And-Run Investigation

The Elgin Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in its investigation of a fatal hit-and-run incident earlier this month.

On the evening of March 8th, just after 7:00pm, 35-year-old Mayra G. Mendoza was struck by a 2007 GMC and a 2018 Nissan on State Street near Airport Road. Mendoza was transported to an area hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.

As detectives from Elgin’s Traffic Division continue to actively investigate this incident, they are seeking the public’s assistance with helping identify a potential third vehicle that may be involved in the incident.
