An Elgin man was arrested Monday after being charged with gunrunning and other firearm-related crimes.
Attorney General Kwame Raoul’s office charged the 24-year-old subject with two counts of Class X felony gunrunning, each punishable by up to 40 years in prison; two counts of Class 1 felony gunrunning, each punishable by up to 15 years in prison; one count of Class 2 felony unlawful use of a weapon, punishable by up to seven years in prison; and two counts of Class 2 felony unlawful possession of a weapon, each punishable by up to 14 years in prison. Sentences are ultimately determined by the court and can run concurrently.
“I will not tolerate illegal gun sales that fuel violence and often deadly criminal activities in communities throughout Illinois,” Raoul said. “These charges are the result of a collaborative effort between my office, federal entities and local law enforcement agencies to address gun trafficking and violence in our communities.”
Raoul’s office alleges that from September 2023 to December 2023, the subject took part in the illegal sale of 18 firearms and three machine gun conversion devices in Kane County.
This case was referred to Raoul’s office by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) following the ATF’S investigation in conjunction with the Elgin Police Department.

The Attorney General’s office is co-prosecuting the case with Kane County State’s Attorney Jamie Mosser’s office.
“We are happy to assist and join forces with the ATF and Elgin Police Department in the prosecution of a dangerous convicted felon who is selling and distributing pistols and rifles that are being used to fuel violence in the Chicagoland area,” said State’s Attorney Mosser.
