Aurora’s The Venue will host two Valentine’s weekend shows.
On Friday, February 16, Gerald McClendon Valentine’s Dance Party will bring an evening of R&B standards and classic soul music. He’ll deliver the sounds of Motown, Stax, and Atlantic records and get the audience dancing. Gerald McClendon is known in Chicago as the “Soulkeeper,” and is hailed as one of the most reminiscent and versatile soul and R&B singer songwriters and performers in the recording industry. Premium table seating is $25 and general admission seats are $20.
The Red Roses will pay tribute to Radiohead at 8 p.m. on Saturday, February 17. With a theatrical performance recreating the once-in-a-generation music with painstaking detail, the group will play songs from across Radiohead’s catalog. The centerpiece of the show is a performance of OK Computer in its entirety.
Radiohead made it big on the airwaves with “Creep,” but their cult status became clear with hits from OK Computer like “Karma Police.” Tickets are $25 for premium table seating and $20 for general admission seats.
Tickets increase $5 at the door for both shows. Doors open at 7 p.m. Advance tickets can be purchased at themusicvenue.org.
This winter, The Venue will offer Sunnyland, a paloma style cocktail at the bar. The drink is a collaboration with French 75 Gallery and Lounge, and will be available for $10 through March.
