The Groundhog Didn’t See His Shadow. Big Deal.

So legendary rodent Punxsutawney Phil of Gobbler’s Nob, Pennsylvania, didn’t see his shadow yesterday, indicating that we can expect an early spring.

Big deal.

Phil my be cute as a button, but the dude is wrong more often than not. In fact, according to the Stormfax Weather Almanac, Phil has blown it around 61% of the time since 1887, when they first started this unusual tradition.

What’s worse, Phil is clearly a pessimist. He has reported seeing his shadow almost 80% of the time, bringing gloom to followers as they anticipate another six weeks of winter.

So here’s one cheer for “the prognosticator of prognosticators.” While he seems optimistic about the early arrival of spring this year, we wouldn’t put away that winter jacket just yet.
