A man who was observed brandishing a firearm at the Aurora Transportation Center Saturday evening is in custody after being arrested by Aurora police.

On Saturday evening at approximately 7:39pm, Aurora police officers were dispatched to the Aurora Transportation Center at 233 North Broadway where they located an 18-year-old man near the men’s restroom who, witnesses said, had been holding a firearm in his hand and pointing it at several people.

The suspect was also observed striking another man with his hands and the firearm.

The suspect was taken into custody and officers located a handgun on his person. He has been charged by the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office with Armed Violence (Class X felony); Aggravated Battery/Public Place (Class 3 felony); Aggravated Battery/Deadly Weapon (Class 3 felony); Aggravated Assault with Laser Attached to Firearm (Class 4 felony); and Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon (Class 4 x 2 charges).

The suspect was held in custody and transported to the Kane County Jail for a pretrial hearing.
