    Police Investigate Gun-Related Homicide On Aurora’s West Side

    Authorities are investigating the death of a 46-year-old woman on Aurora’s west side Saturday afternoon.

    At 4:49pm Saturday, Aurora police officers responded to reports of a vehicle crash and shots fired near Prairie Street and Woodlawn Avenue in Aurora. Upon arriving, officers discovered a single vehicle crash with a 46-year-old female suffering from gunshots wounds inside the vehicle.

    Aurora Fire Department Paramedics transported the woman to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead a short time later. No other injuries were reported during the incident.

    The name of the victim will be released upon completion of an autopsy by the Kane County Coroner’s Office Wednesday.

    Detectives from the Aurora Police Department’s Investigations Bureau responded to the scene and began investigating the specific circumstances of the incident. Evidence Technicians also responded to the scene to identify and collect forensic evidence from the shooting.

    The investigation into the homicide remains an active investigation.
