Yeah, we know. It’s the Midwest. This is supposed to be routine.
But there appears to be nothing routine about the storm fo this weekend being forecasted by the National Weather Service Chicago.
Over the next 72 hours or so, the Fox Valley is expected to get over a foot of snow, followed by subzero temperatures and 40-50 mile-per-hour wind gusts.
The fun begins overnight tonight, with snow beginning in the early morning hours and intensifying around 5am to over 1 inch per hour. Snow will taper off mid-morning and possibly be replaced by icy rain, but will return early afternoon at much heavier rates that will last through mid-evening, followed by more moderate snowfall overnight into Saturday morning.
Saturday and Sunday are expected to see a sharp drop in termperature and wind gusts from 40-50 miles per hour, creating blizzard-like conditions. The deep freeze is expected to last through Wednesday, with subzero windchills throughout.
Traval will likely be hzardous during this period, so caution is advised.
We having fun yet?
