When it comes to winter storms, Fox Valley residents have grown suspicious of dire forecasts in recent years. Many is the time that a roar has been predicted, only to be followed by a pathetic whisper.
But Tuesday’s snowstorm didn’t disappoint, at least in the Fox Valley, which was hit the hardest of anywhere in Chicagoland.
Wayne took the prize for accumulation with 6.3 inches, followed by Campton Hills (5.5) and South Elgin (5.4). Elburn and Hampshire each got 5 inches, while Aurora accumulated 3.5 inches. Finally, Naperville came in with a respectable 4.5 inches.
So, no dud this time. Well done, National Weather Service Chicago.
Ready for more?
The NWS Chicago is warning of another major system with heavy snow and high winds expected to blow through the area from Friday afternoon into Saturday. And next week it looks like we’ll head into the deep freeze, with highs in the single digits or lower and sub-zero wind chills.
So bundle up. Winter has officially arrived.
