An Aurora man is in custody and has been charged with attempted murder in relation to an October shooting incident on Aurora’s west side.

According to police, at approximately 8:40pm on Wednesday, October 13, there was a “disturbance” between two individuals in the 1000 block of Grand Boulevard. One of the individuals pulled a firearm, causing the second individual to run to a vehicle occupied by a third subject. As the second and third subject began to flee the area in the vehicle, the subject with the firearm opened fire, striking the vehicle.

The shooting suspect was not located at the time of the incident, and no injuries were reported.

After an investigation, police identified a 22-year-old Aurora man as being responsible for the shooting. He was taken into custody the following day without incident.

The Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office authorized the following charges against the suspect:

  • Attempted First Degree Murder (Class X Felony)
  • Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm (Class X Felony)
  • Unlawful Use of a Weapon/Ammo by a Felon (2 counts, Class 2 Felony)
  • Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon (2 counts, Class 2 Felony)
  • Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Street Gang Member (Class 2 Felony)
  • No Firearm Owner Identification (Class 3 Felony)

The suspect is currently being held at the Kane County Jail.
