This year’s Dickens In Dundee will take place in East Dundee and West Dundee on Friday, December 1 and Saturday, December 2.
Dickens in Dundee was formed in 1988. It began as a small community gathering, with caroling and the search for Tiny Tim’s crutch in local stores. With the support of local businesses, this event has grown significantly and attracts people from all over the Dundee area.
Friday, December 1, 5:30pm-9:00pm
East Dundee
- 5:30pm – Dundee-Crown Chamber and Varsity Treble Choirs perform
- 5:45pm – Tree Lighting, Santa Arrives
- 6:00pm-8:00pm – Those Funny Little People Toy Making Elves
- 6:00pm-9:00pm – Visits with Santa (free hot chocolate and cookies), Living Windows (Along River Street and Main Street), The Frozen Robins Caroling Quartet, The Frozen Fab Four (Elsa, Anna, Kristoff and Olaf), Twinkles & Sprinkles and Free Horse-drawn carriage rides
East Dundee activities will take place near The Depot at 319 N. River Street and the surrounding area.
West Dundee
- 6:00pm-8:00pm – Living Windows and Holiday Displays (throughout downtown), Warming House & Santa Claus (Village Hall, 2nd floor, 102 S 2nd Street), Shop with a Cop Raffle (Village Hall, 1st floor)
- 7:00pm – Tree Lighting Ceremony (Village Hall, south side of building)
Saturday, December 2, 9:00am-9:00pm
West Dundee
- 9:00am-7:00pm – Ron Rhoades Festival of Trees Display (Grafelman Park – Main St between 4th & 5th)
- 9:00am-3:00pm – Dickens of a Christmas Sale by Dundee Township Historical Society
- 9:00am-3:00pm – Bake Sale ad Bazaar, Bethlehem Lutheran Chruch Society
- 10:30am-1:30PM – Soup & Sandwich Lunch (Bethlehem Lutheran Church)
- 12:00pm-3:00pm- Santa’s Workshop Kids Crafts & Treats
- 1:30pm – Reading of Charles Dickens A Christmas Carol (Mansion B&B, 305 Oregon Ave)
Riverside Parade of Lights
Watch all of your famous Christmas movies come alive as the parade kicks of at 6:30pm in West Dundee on South Lincoln Ave (just south of North 6th St), travels north across the Main Street Bridge in Carpentersville and then south on Washington/Water Street to East Dundee (ending at Railroad Street).
