The holidays are right around the corner and the Downtown Neighborhood Association of Elgin is is bringing back Holly Days, a series of events designed to get in the holiday spirit.
Holiday Beverage Crawl
Saturday, November 25
The Holly Days Beverage Crawl is coming back for another year on Small Business Saturday, November 25. Businesses will host participants for a sampling of a specialty drink at their establishment. Novelty cups purchased in advance will serve as your “ticket” for the event. Some of the drinks offered last year included hot cocoa, apple cider, mint mocha, PoncheNavideno which is a warm holiday fruit punch made with apples, pears, oranges, and guavas spiced with cinnamon, cloves, tamarind, and hibiscus. Child sized sample cups will be available at each location for children who are accompanied by a paying adult.
Ticket sales will go live soon through the Downtown Neighborhood Association of Elgin. Tickets will be priced at $25 for the Yeti-style cup. This year the cups are white with a cranberry-colored logo in the center.
Krampus Crawl
Saturday, December 9
Krampus Krawl is a downtown Elgin bar crawl with a Krampus theme that first came to Elgin in 2015. You can join the Krawl at any point at participating bars and restaurants including Martini Room, Elgin Public House, Vern’s Tavern, Kubo Sushi & Sake Lounge, and more for food, drink specials, and entertainment. The night will conclude with dancing and authentic German folk music from pop band Alpine Thunder at Martini Room. Wear your Krampus themed costume to participate in the costume contest for a chance to win a downtown Elgin gift certificate. This is a great smaller scale event for fans of Nightmare on Chicago Street or anyone looking to do something unique around the holidays.
Holiday Market
Saturday, December 16
The Holiday Market at the Ashbury will be back this year for one day only on Saturday, December 16. This is a great opportunity to knock out Christmas shopping as the Ashbury event venue will be filled with two levels worth of vendors selling artisan goods, foods, crafts, and more!
Holiday Murals
Holiday Murals will be popping up around Elgin again this season. Artists get to take creative liberties with this opportunity to paint a festive themed mural on participating businesses windows for the community’s viewing pleasure. Last year’s murals ranged from penguins sledding, to the Grinch, to a snow globe of Elgin! Keep an eye out for what the artists come up with this year and remember to scan the adjacent QR code to vote for your favorite mural.
