Aurora Police obtained an arrest warrant for a Skokie man in connection with bomb threats at Aurora Public Library District buildings in September.

On September 12th and 14th, 2023, the Aurora Public Library District buildings at 101 South River Street, 233 South Constitution Drive, and 555 South Eola Road were evacuated and searched by police after the District received bomb threats. No devices were located.

During the investigation, the APD, in cooperation with North Regional Major Crimes Task Force, identified a 23-year-old Skokie man as being responsible for making the threats.

On Wednesday, the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office authorized charge of Disorderly Conduct – False Bomb Threats (2 counts, class 3 felony) against the suspect for the false bomb threats at the River Street and Constitution Drive buildings:

On Thursday, an arrest warrant was issued for the suspect in Kane County. Upon his arrest, the suspect will appear for a Pre-Trial Detention or Conditions of Release hearing. Additional charges have not been ruled out. The suspect is currently being held in the Cook County Jail on unrelated charges.
