Elgin police officers arrested a 30-year-old Elgin man Wednesday evening after thwarting an alleged attempted armed robbery.
EPD was dispatched to the 0-99 block of South State Street at approximately 9pm Wednessday for a report of a subject with a weapon and a possible attempted armed robbery. Upon arriving at the scene, officers immediately took the suspect into custody and recovered a firearm.
The Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office charged suspect the following:
- Two (2) counts of Armed Violence (Class X Felony)
- Attempted Armed Robbery (Class X Felony)
- Aggravated Unlawful Use of Weapon Prior Felony Convictions (Class 2 Felony)
- Aggravated Unlawful Use of Weapon/Ammunition (Class 3 Felony)
- FOID Card Violation Not Eligible (Class 3 Felony)
- Aggravated Unlawful Use of Weapon No FOID (Class 4 Felony)
- Aggravated Unlawful Use of Weapon (Class 4 Felony)
- Aggravated Unlawful Use of Weapon No CCL (Class 4 Felony)
- Two (2) counts Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance (Class 4 Felony)
The accused was transported to the Kane County Jail today for a pre-trial detention hearing where the Judge ordered him to be detained pending a future court date.
