Based out of Aurora, Illinois, Abbey Farms is a unique agri-tourism non-profit farm that offers year round fun. They have been growing memories since 1949. Located on the same campus as Marmion Academy, Abbey Farms grows pumpkins, Christmas trees, and delicious produce throughout the summer. More than just a farm, they also offer seasonal festivals, the Nagel Farmstead Store full of goodies, and the Emporium Cafe which serves delicious food and a full bar. Abbey Farms’ produce, store, and events change with the seasons.
The Emporium store is open nearly all year long and sells specialty food, decor, and home goods. Those who have visited Abbey Farms before are often already a fan of the canned sauces, jams, jellies, preserves, salsas, and other pantry staples. Shoppers at the Emporium can find unique items, like moonshine jelly or peach salsa, that likely won’t be available at the grocery store. Or guests can try Abbey Farms’ take on already loved favorites like queso and a variety of hot sauces. In addition to unique canned goods, the store features decor and homegoods, so visitors can bring the feelings of the seasons home with them.
Founded nearly 75 years ago by the Marmion Abbey monks, Abbey Farms began as a simple Christmas tree farm. They are one of the few farms in the area to still offer U-cut Christmas trees. Each tree can take 8-10 years to grow. Their dedication to preserving this tradition means families can make Christmas memories through the generations. For those who are not interested in cutting down their own trees, Abbey Farms carries a wide selection of pre-cut trees. Santa visits Abbey Farms throughout the Christmas season, too. 2022 Christmas Tree time slots are available now at abbeyfarms.org.
Today, Abbey Farms functions all year long to support the Marmion Abbey monk and their goals of providing to the community through education. Make sure to say hi if you see the monks around the farm.
