    Elgin Man In Custody For Multiple Robberies And Burglaries, Including Two Bank Heists

    A 42-year-old Elgin man is in custody after being charged with a plethora of burlaries and robberies, including two recent robberies of Elgin banks.

    The accused was identified by an Elgin Police detective several days after a robbery at the Chase Bank located at 1600 Larkin Avenue in Elgin, which occured on Friday, September 1. Through further investigation, it was determined that the man was also a suspect in six other Elgin cases, including an attempted bank robbery at the Elgin State Bank located at 50 Tyler Creek Plaza, also in Elgin, which occurred on Thursday, August 31.

    The accused was taken into custody on Wednesday at his Elgin. The Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office has authorized the following charges against him:

    • Aggravated Robbery (Class 1 Felony)
    • (3) counts of Burglary (Class 2 Felony)
    • Robbery (Class 2 Felony)
    • Theft (Class 3 Felony)
    • Burglary (Class 3 felony)
    • Retail Theft over $500 (Class 3 Felony)
    • Attempted Robbery (Class 3 Felony)
    • (3) counts of Retail Theft (Class 4 Felony)
    • Theft under $500 (Class 4 Felony)

    The accused is being charged through the State of Illinois due to the number of cases within Elgin’s jurisdiction. He appeared in Kane County bond call Thursday morning where the Judge set his bond at $500,000 (10% to apply).
