The City of Elgin continues its summer concert series at Festival Park in downtown Elgin with the End of Summer Bash on Saturday, August 19th.
Back by popular demand, the End of Summer Bash is bigger and better than last year with new programming, more food vendors, and Elgin’s first-ever drone show. This free event focuses on families and school-aged kids.
Side Street Studio Arts will be on site providing art kits and art making, a trackless train along with other interactive activities make for fun all around. Grammy winner Justin Roberts and the Not Ready for Naptime Players take the stage at 5:00pm to kick off the evening of fun. Latin Grammy and Emmy winning Lucky Diaz and the Family Jam Band round out the staged entertainment, followed by Elgin’s first-ever drone show.
“Last year’s event brought out a few thousand people and was a big hit, so we wanted to go bigger this year,” said Amanda Harris, director of cultural arts & special events for the city of Elgin. “Summer always brings back nostalgic memories for us, and we hope to create some of those for the kids in Elgin.”
Community partners that offer services that Elgin families might find useful will also be on site at the event. Some of these participating partners include the Elgin Partnership for Early Learning, Boys and Girls Club, and many more. Families are invited to meet and greet these community partners and learn what resources are in Elgin that might be helpful.
New summer concert series collectable cups, which sync to the stage and light up with the music, will be available at the event. Add a festival sticker to receive a beer and $1 off each beer refill. Bring your cup back all summer long and collect the event sticker at each event for continued discounts.
Residents and visitors are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs and blankets to Festival Park, 132 South Grove for End of Summer Bash from 5:00 p.m.- 9:00 p.m. This event is free and open to the public. In the case of bad weather, the event will be cancelled.
