Texas Man Arrested In Shooting Incident In Elgin

A Texas man was arrested and released on his own recognizance after a shooting incident Saturday evening in Elgin.

On Friday evening at approximately 6:30pm, Elgin police officers responded to the 1700 block of North State Street for a report of shots fired. Upon arrival, officers identified the alleged perpetrator and took him into custody.

After investigating the incident, the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office has charged a 29-year-old man from Spring, Texas, with the following crimes:

  • Two (2) counts of Unlawful Use of a weapon (Class 4 felony)
  • Reckless Discharge of a firearm (Class 4 felony)

The accused appeared in Kane County bond call this morning where the Judge released him on his own recognizance (ROR).
