The City of Elgin is bringing back its popular “Movies In The Park” series this summer. This family-friendly series brings the community together to enjoy a free outdoor movie weekly throughout the months of July and August. Each movie will also include appearances by characters and concessions on offer by local not-for-profits.

Buzz will be there in person for Lightyear to go to infinity and beyond on an intergalactic adventure in escaping the evil Zurg on July 21st at Festival Park. Sing 2 hits the big screen at Summerhill Park on July 28th. Get there early to sign your heart out with some local performers. Luca will be on the big outdoor screen on August 1st at Festival Park. Bring your best sonic moves to defeat Dr. Robotnik and Eggman in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 on August 4th at College Green Park. Shuri is taking a break from protecting Wakanda and will be with us on August 11th at Festival Park for the showing of Wakanda Forever.

New to the series this year are two movies that will be shown on the south lawn next to the Hemmens Cultural Center and are geared towards a slightly older crowd. Wear your pink outfits and grab a drink at the Hemmens Cultural Center to catch Mean Girls on July 22nd.  Dinosaur costumes are encouraged for the showing of Jurassic World takes August 12th. These two new events are also free and open to the public.

Find the perfect spot to sit on the park lawns and enjoy a much-loved movie with your friends and family. The movies begin at dusk and concessions will be offered for purchase.
