A Yorkville man is dead after his vehicle struck a traffic signal early this morning in Yorkville.

According to Yorkville police, at approximately 1:50 a.m. officers responded to the intersection of Route 47 and Route 71 for a report of a single vehicle car accident.

Police found a 30-year-old man and applied life-saving techniques, after which he was transported to a nearby hospital. The man was subsequently pronounced deceased.

The preliminary investigation suggests that a 2017 Honda sedan driven by the man left the roadway and struck a traffic signal. No further details have been made available.

The victim’s name is being withheld at this time. This is a pending investigation.
