A 70-year-old man from Bloomingdale was killed yesterday when his motorcyle was struck head-on by a pickup truck on Route 38 in Geneva.
The preliminary investigation by the Geneva Police Department indicates that the deceased was traveling in the eastbound lanes of Route 38 when a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck traveling westbound veered into the eastbound lanes east of the intersection with Crissey Avenue and struck the motorcycle in a head-on collision.
The motorcyclist was transported to Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital by Geneva Fire Department personnel and pronounced deceased at 2:17 p.m. by hospital staff.
The Chevrolet Silverado was driven by a 24-year-old man from Aurora and occupied by three additional passengers. The driver and passengers were evaluated on scene by medic personnel with no injuries reported.
While at the moment neither speed nor alcohol were involved in the incident, Geneva police anticipate charges will be forthcoming based on the preliminary investigation. Names of the drivers will not be released until families have been notified.
The Geneva Police Department and the Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team are actively working to investigate the crash.
