The Anvil Club, a venerable member of the East Dundee Culinary District, has announced that it will close at the end of July, to be replaced by a “family-friendly Mexican restaurant.”
The restaurant issued the following press release today.
The Anvil Club of East Dundee offered a unique dining experience since its inception in 1956 with countless guests patronizing the establishment for decades. Furthermore, this loyalty helped create a vibrant and thriving downtown district in the place we call home. Generation after generation of patronage has written the story of The Anvil Club. That story, however, is about to turn a page. The Anvil Club, as it’s been known, will close at the end of July 2023. But that is not the end.
Colin Hegarty, a local entrepreneur most notably known for the Maple and Hash restaurants, is partnering with businessman Tom Roeser to bring a new restaurant concept to 309 Meier Street. Colin’s vision is to convert the space into a festive and family-friendly Mexican restaurant. His vision and enthusiasm will add fresh energy to the East Dundee’s Culinary District.Over June and July, The Anvil Club will be celebrating our legacy with all the great food and good times we are known for. For us, it’s also a time to celebrate our faithful customers; to celebrate our beloved entertainers like Linda O’Connor, Jeff Deutsch, and Jim Pedicone; and to celebrate and say goodbye to the terrific Anvil Club staff who have curated the many enjoyable experiences that our customers have had over the years.
Please join us for two months of grand goodbyes as together we celebrate everything that is awesome about The Anvil Club.
The release indicated that gift cards will no longer be available for purchase but that current gift cards will be honored until July 31. Wine lockers must be emptied by that date, and all parties scheduled before closing will go on as planned. Cigar dinners for June and July will also go on as planned.
