Two Elgin men have been arrested in the shooting incident Friday evening that sent two men to hospital.

At 9:13 p.m., Elgin police officers responded to the 100 block of East Chicago St. for a reported shooting. Officers located two adult male subjects with non-life-threatening injuries who were subsequently transported to area hospitals.

After investigating the incident, Elgin police have arrested a 20-year-old Elgin man who has been charged by the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office with the following:

    • Possession of a firearm/No FOID (Class 3 felony)
    • Three (3) counts of Aggravated Unlawful Use of a weapon (Class 4 felony)

Also arrested and charged in the investigation by the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office was a 38-year-old man, also of Elgin, who was charged with the following:

    • Two (2) counts of Aggravated Battery (Class 3 felony)
    • Mob Action (Class 4 felony)

Both men appeared in Kane County bond call this morning where the Judge released the younger accused on his own recognizance and set the elder’s bond at $10,000 (10% to apply).

Anyone having information that may assist the investigation should call 847-289-2600 or, to text a tip, send a message to 847411 and include “ELGINPD” in the beginning of the text, along with the message and/or tip information.
