Fox Valley Orthopedics (FVO) has announced Michael Hernandez, MD, has joined their team of physicians. Dr. Hernandez is an internal medicine specialist currently accepting new adult and adolescent patients at FVO’s Elgin-Randall location.

With over 25 years of medical experience, Dr. Hernandez joined FVO to provide a comprehensive approach to nonsurgical treatments of a wide range of conditions, including arthritis and diabetes management, weight loss and nutrition, as well as spine and bone health.

For patients who need clearance for an upcoming orthopedic procedure, Dr. Hernandez also conducts pre-surgical physicals and is available to assist patients with health and lifestyle strategies for further preparation.

“We’re excited to have Dr. Hernandez join our team,” said FVO’s CEO John Brady. “He is part of our commitment to treating the whole orthopedic patient, and providing them with comprehensive care.”

Dr. Hernandez earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Illinois, Chicago, and completed his residency at Mercy Hospital & Medical Center, Chicago. He is currently a member of the American Medical Association, Kane County Medical Society, Cook County Medical Society, and the Illinois Medical Society.

Dr. Hernandez is actively involved in several local organizations, and enjoys providing health and wellness education to residents living in the Fox Valley community.

    FVO to Host Blood Drive

Throughout Illinois, there is an urgent need for blood. Every two seconds someone in the United States needs blood, whether it be for an accident victim, a surgery patient or those affected by natural disasters. To ensure the Fox Valley area has an adequate blood supply, community residents are invited to participate in Versiti Blood Center of Illinois’ Mobile Blood Drive on May 31, 10 am-3 pm, outside of Fox Valley Orthopedics, 2535 Soderquist Ct., Geneva, in the Mobile Coach.

Walk-ins are welcome; registration encouraged. A non-expired photo identification will be needed at the time of the donation. Panera Bread is donating a healthy to-go meal to all donors, and everyone who attempts to donate will be entered in a raffle drawing.

The blood drive is sponsored by Fox Valley Orthopedics and Fox Valley Orthopedics Physical Therapy. For more information or to pre-register, visit fvortho.com/blood-drive.
