A McHenry man declared missing on April 22 was found dead in the Fox River this week, according to a press release from the McHenry Police Department.
Since being declared missing, the McHenry Police Department has been aggressively investigating the disappearance of Gustavo Guzman-Perez, 28, from his home in McHenry, where he was last seen at 2:00am, April 22.
On Wednesday, May 3, a boater spotted a male figure in the river near the 2000 block of South Fernwood Lane and reported to police. The McHenry County Coroner responded to the call as well and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
On May 5, the coroner’s office issued a positive identification of Guzman-Perez. The cause of death is pending the results of toxicology testing.
The McHenry Police Department will continue to investigate the death, but has concluded that there is no ongoing threat to the public.
