A 57-year-old Aurora man riding a motorized scooter veered off the sidewalk and fell into traffic on Farnsworth Avenue Thuresday afternoon, suffering a severe injury when his arm was run over by a commuter bus.
On Thursday at 3:42 PM, APD was dispatched to the area of Farnsworth Avenue and Molitor Road for a traffic crash involving a bicycle and commuter bus. Officers found a 57-year-old Aurora man with a severe arm injury. Aurora Fire Department medics transported the man to a local hospital where he was listed in stable condition.
Officers learned the man was riding a stand-up motorized scooter on the sidewalk, west of Farnsworth Avenue. The scooter veered off the sidewalk, causing the man to fall from the scooter and into the roadway. The manโs arm was run over by a passing commuter bus, which was traveling south on Farnsworth Avenue. There were no passengers on the bus at the time of the crash.
The incident remains under investigation by APDโs Traffic Division and no citations have been issued. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call the Aurora Police Departmentโs Traffic Division at 630-256-5330.
