A woman was killed Sunday afternoon after she apparently lost control of her car on Plank Road in unincorportated Plato township.
At approximately 4:30 P.M. on Sunday, Kane County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to an accident with serious injuries in the 40W200 block of Plank Road, where they discovered that a single-vehicle crash had occurred.
The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, Kimberly Roddan, 56, of Sycamore, was transported to Sherman Hospital by Pingree Grove EMS with life threatening injuries and was later pronounced deceased.
For an unknown reason, a 2012 Buick Verona driven by Roddan traveling eastbound on Plank Road left the roadway onto the eastbound shoulder. The vehicle then re-entered the roadway, crossed the centerline into westbound traffic and left the roadway again on the North side of Plank Road. The Buick rolled several times prior to coming to rest.
It is unknown at this time if drugs or alcohol contributed to the crash.
The Kane County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Pingree Grove PD and the Kane County Office of Emergency Management. The investigation is still on going by the Kane County Sheriff’s Office investigations Division and the Kane County Drone Team.
