    Man Fatally Wounded in Aurora Shooting

    A man was shot and killed Sunday evening on Aurora’s near-West side, according to a press release from the Aurora police department.

    Shortly before 10:00PM Sunday evening, Aurora police were called to the 400 block of west New York Street in repsonse to shots being reported. Officers located a 24-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds inside a parked vehicle.

    Aurora Fire Department paramedics transported the man to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

    The identity of the man is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

    Detectives from the Aurora Police Department’s Bureau of Investigations and Evidence Technicians responded to the scene and continue to investigate the fatal shooting.
