A pair of exciting promotional theme nights and special jerseys for a great cause highlights a weekend of fun at Fox Valley Ice Arena this Friday and Saturday.
The Chicago Steel (21-9-1-1; 44 pts) are home for the weekend and are set to battle the Waterloo Black Hawks (20-11-0-0; 40 pts) for Tie-Dye Day presented by McCormick FONA Friday, Jan. 20.
Saturday, Jan. 21, the Steel battle the Des Moines Buccaneers (12-14-4-2; 30 pts) for Star Wars Night presented by Meyer Signs and Graphics. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. both nights.
The Steel will wear special jerseys for Tie-Dye Day, presented by McCormick FONA. The jerseys feature a red/black/white tie-dye spiral centered around the Steel primary logo at center, with white shoulders.
The jerseys will be auctioned online from January 19 to 26 with net proceeds benefiting the Geneva Academic Foundation. Jerseys will start at $150 and a buy-it-now option is available for fans for $600. In addition to player game-worn jerseys, the Steel will have team-autographed jerseys available for bid as well, plus a “North Dakota” jersey featuring the team’s four players committed to the University of North Dakota.
During Friday’s game, fans can enjoy promotions such as That 70s Show (TV Theme Song Challenge), Wheel of Fortune, and Hungry Hungry Hippos.
On Star Wars Night, fans will be greeted by members of the 501st Garrison appearing in character for photo opportunities.
The characters will participate in events through the night and fans can engage in promotions like Star Wars Pictionary, Shoot the Puck using the Force, and Two Truths and a Lie: Star Wars Edition.
