    Aurora Neighborhoods Hit With Rash Of Car Theft And Carjackings; Delivery Drivers Targeted

    According to an alert from the Aurora Police Department, certain neighborhoods in Aurora have seen a rash of car thefts and carjackings in the past month. Thieves appear to be targeting delivery drivers and other who leave their vehicles unattended with the car running.

    Since December 4th, 2022, at least 9 stolen cars and vehicular hijackings have been reported to the Aurora Police Department around the Hometown subdivision and Fox Pointe Apartment complex on the city’s southwest side.

    The times and locations of the incidents are as follows:

    • 2000 block of Fox Pointe Circle on 12/04/22 between 6 am and 11 am
    • 1700 block of Windcrest Ln on 12/10/22 at 2:30 pm
    • 900 block of Serendipity Dr on 01/04/23 at 12:30 pm
    • 900 block of Serendipity Dr on 01/04/23 at 5:25 pm
    • 900 block of Serendipity Dr on 01/05/23 at 5:05 pm
    • 700 block of Serendipity Dr on 01/07/23 at 7 pm
    • 1600 block of Maple Park Ln on 01/11/23 between 10 am and 10:30 am
    • 900 block of Serendipity Dr on 01/11/23 at 10 pm
    • 1600 block of Maple Park Ln on 01/12/23 at 9:30 pm

    According to APD, at least three African American males, each 15 to 20 years old, have been involved.

    • One wearing a black hoody with a white design, blue jeans, black shoes, and a ski mask
    • One wearing a red hoody with black pants, and black and white shoes
    • One wearing a black hoody with blue jeans, and black shoes

    APD strongly advises drivers to avoid leaving their vehicles running unattended and to always lock doors when leaving the vehicle.
