On September 24, 2022, Aurora Police officers responded to the 300 block of Center Avenue in response to a report of shots fired and found two individuals suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

One victim, Ferrer Vicente Velasquez, 29, of the 300 block of Center Avenue, was pronounced deceased on scene.

The second victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment of their wounds. They were later released in stable condition and are recovering from their injuries.

After three months of investigation, which included assistance from other law enforcement agencies, authorities have charged two suspects with:

  • Three counts of first-degree murder
  • One count of attempted first-degree murder
  • Four counts of aggravated battery with a firearm

One of the accused, a 24-year-old Aurora man, was taken into custody on Friday, January 6. The other, a Montgomery man, also 24, was served with charges at the Kane County Jail, where he was being detained on other charges.

Detectives continue to investigate this shooting and ask anyone with information to call the Aurora Police Department’s Investigations Division at (630) 256-5500 or email us at tips@aurora.il.us
