The Kane County Coroner has identified the Elgin man who police found deceased Sunday morning in a residence in the 700 block of Preston Avenue.
The man has been identified as Gerardo Hernandez, Male, 33, of Elgin.
According to the coroner’s press release, the preliminary cause of death was multiple stab and incised wounds. Toxicology was sent out to a forensic lab and results are pending. The Kane County Coroner’s Office is working with the Elgin Police Department in the further investigation into the cause and manner of death.
Detectives from the Major Investigations Division continue to investigate this incident, which appears to be domestic-related.
On December 18th at approximately 6:59 a.m. officers responded to the area of Summit St. and Hiawatha Dr. for a check on the welfare of a subject. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male who was taken into custody on unrelated, outstanding warrants. Through further investigation it was determined that the subject lived in the 700 block of Preston Ave. Officers responded to this location and located Hernandez deceased inside the residence.
