An autopsy by the Kane County Coroner’s office has indicated drowning as the preliminary cause of death of Kimberly Koerner, the Algonquin woman whose body was found in the Fox River Monday morning.

The office is still awaiting toxicology results before issuing a final cause of death.

An Algonquin woman reported missing since Sunday morning has been found dead in the Fox River, according to a police report.

Kimberly Koerner, 52, had last been seen at around 9:00am Sunday morning walking away from the Jewel Food Store at 1501 E Algonquin. Authorities had issued a plea for the public’s assistance via social media Sunday evening.

On Monday morning, the Algonquin Police Department announced that a body fitting the description of Koerner has been located in the Fox River and that the body has been taken by the Kane County Coroner’s office for official identification. According to reports, the body was found near the area of Bolz Road and Williams Road.

Police do not suspect foul play at this point, but stated that the investigation is ongoing.
