A 17-year-old girl freed herself from an attempted abduction this morning in the near Channing Park and St. Mary’s Catholic School in Elgin.
According to police, this morning at around 9:43am a male Hispanic subject in a vehicle as reporting following a 17-year-old female student in the area of South Channing Street and Fulton Street. Preliminary information indicated that a male Hispanic subject was attempting to speak with the student who continued to walk away from the subject.
At some point the male subject exited his vehicle and grabbed the female student’s arm. The student was able to pull away and immediately reported the incident. The student was not injured.
The male Hispanic is described approximately 40 years of age, 5’8 with black hair, last seen wearing a dark sweater and blue jeans. The subject left the area in a silver Honda Odyssey which was last seen traveling eastbound on Division Street from South Gifford Street.
U46 officials are aware of the incident and officers and Detectives are currently on scene conducting the investigation.
