Wine selections available at local wine stores and wineries in the Fox Valley area

    2020 Bonobo Chardonnay C $24
Hand harvested in mid-October and cold soaked for 16 hours to enhance aromatics. Hints of lemon zest, pineapple & baked pear. It’s bright throughout the palate with a clean, refreshing finish.

Domaine Serene Evenstad Reserve Dundee Hills Brut M.V.4

Composed with fruit from some of our most coveted Single-Vineyard sites in the Dundee Hills, the fourth edition of our Multi-Vintage Brut hits all the notes one would expect of a world class release. Inspired by the great Champagnes enjoyed by the Evenstad family, the M.V. 4 sets an evolutionary benchmark for new world sparkling wine.

This beautifully expressive release surprises immediately with a fresh mint character on the nose. The fine bubbles open with a welcome burst of graham cracker and pie crust. A touch of almond leads to an elegant acidity – which shows more like a Meyer lemon on the palate –
and a soft, almost velvety mouthfeel to finish.

    Caduceus Cellars, Merkin Vineyards Chupacabra

Most people are drawn to Caduceus Cellars because of the winemaker’s tenure as the front man of the progressive metal band Tool, but Maynard J. Keenan created more of a symphony with this GSM blend. This yearly changing, 35% Grenache, 35% Syrah, 30% Mourvèdre from the Buhl Memorial Vineyard carries bright fruits mimicking the great wines from the Cotes du Rhone, while bringing some American nuances that we believe can only come from the cobble and clay dense soil in the eastern edge of Sulfur Springs Valley.

One taste and you will understand why this was hand selected by the owner of the PRIDE for one of our special monthly picks, but also for the recent wine tastings where this rocked palates as much as some of the best Cabernet and Bordeaux blends from throughout Napa… for a fraction of their prices.

Merkin Vineyards Chupacabra – Cochise County, AZ – $21.99 is ready to drink now or cellar it for up to a decade.

    2021 Sangiovese

Our Sangiovese features layers of tart cherries, strawberry, and spice. A perfect balance of tannins and acidity with a light oak backbone and a lovely floral nose. Made from grapes sourced from California, this light yet fruity wine is very food friendly. Tomato based Italian pasta or pizza dishes will shine when paired!

    Contratto

Millesimato Pas Dosé, Metodo Classico. Alta Langa, Italy, 2016 – $31.99 (10% off for September Wine of the Month.) Vintage Sparkling Wine from Piedmont, Italy. Contratto was one of the first producing Italian sparkling wines in the “Champagne Method” over 100 years ago. Made with Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, this is the closest you will get to vintage Champagne at a fraction of the price but with all the quality. The label is by Cappiello, one of the fathers of modern Italian poster design, who created a Contratto publicity campaign in the 1920’s.

Notes of dried fruit, apricots and citrus fruit. Complex and elegant on the palate, with a distinct minerality which accompanies the precise and substantial finish. The perlage is very fine and long lasting. Sustainably farmed, like most of our selections. Another cellar gem!
