A body pulled from the river Sunday in Carpentersville may be that of a man identified as missing since Friday afternoon.

On Saturday at approximately 4:45pm, the Carpentersville Police Department posted a missing person announcement on the Village of Carpentersville Public Safety Facebook page. The missing person was identified as Jesus Maldanado, a 21-year-old male, 5’5, 140 lbs with black hair and brown eyes.

On Sunday morning, at approximately 7:33 AM, the Kane County Sheriff’s Office, the Kane County Forest Preserve Police Department, the Carpentersville Police Department, and the Carpentersville Fire Department responded to the Fox River Shores Forest Preserve, 701 Williams Road for a human body in the Fox River. The body was subsequently removed from the water by CVFD personnel and CVPD Detectives responded to the scene.

The Kane County Coroner’s Office responded and transported the body to their headquarters and an autopsy is pending at this time. Due to the condition of the body a positive identification cannot be made at this time.

The Carpentersville Police Department is investigating whether this body is that of Maldonado.

    Maldanado’s family has been notified.
