The Naperville Police Department has released body camera and car camera video of the previously reported shooting that took place on Friday, June 3 in Naperville.
During that incident, an NPD officer was conducting a traffic stop near the intersection of Bond Street and McDowell Road in Naperville when an unrelated vehicle pulled up next to the vehicle the officer had pulled over.
A man, later identified as Edward C. Samaan, 28, of Naperville, got out of the vehicle and charged at the officer with a hatchet in his hand. The officer pulled his gun and shot him.
Samaan was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
The officer, a 22-year-veteran of the Naperville Police Department, was not injured.
