The 15th annual Frontier Kite Fly, presented by The Branch – Naperville Moms, will be held at Frontier Sports Complex, located at 3380 Cedar Glade Drive on Sunday, June 5 from 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. A free event, the Kite Fly is co-hosted by Naperville Park District and KidsMatter to provide fun for all ages and a rare opportunity to view gigantic kites flown by kite enthusiasts from Chicago Kite. Participants also can practice flying their own kites.
The event began in 2007 and has run every year since then except 2020.
“We are happy to co-host the Kite Fly once again this year with KidsMatter,” said Program Manager Beth Durso. “As a kickoff to summer, we invite the community to fly a kite, enjoy live entertainment and participate in fun, educational games. Families can make a day of it by purchasing lunch or snacks from the food trucks on site or by bringing their own picnic.”
The entertainment schedule is as follows:
- 11:00-11:45 a.m. – Andrew Huber, soloist, acoustic guitar
- 12:00-12:45 p.m. – Istvan & His Imaginary Band – children’s music
- 1:00-1:45 p.m. – Scribble Monster – children’s music
- 2:00-3:45 p.m. – Neuqua Valley and Metea Valley High School Steel Drum Ensembles – instrumental music
KidsMatter is providing an activity, Games from Around the World, which is new to the event.
“We will be highlighting games from around the world to give young people and families the opportunity to get to know more about different parts of the world and their cultures through the games that children play,” explained Nina Menis, CEO and Executive Director of KidsMatter.
This community event is sponsored by The Branch – Naperville Moms, Visit Naperville, LeafGuard, West Side Children’s Therapy, Texas Roadhouse, TR Miller, Mathnasium, HomeLight, Raising Cane’s, Oswald’s, Republic Bank and Your Story Counseling. Food trucks on site include Go Doggy Go, John’s Ribs and Ben and Jerry’s.
