19 Year-Old Killed In Fiery Crash on I-88

Yesterday morning at about 9:40am, a 19-year-old man died when his car collided with a tractor-trailer and burst into flames on I-88 near Kaneville.

According to the Illinois State Police, Edwin Chavez of Bensenville was driving westbound in the right lane when is 2015 Chevrolet Impala struck the back end of a 2001 Freightliner Truck Tractor and Semi-Trailer.

Upon impact, Chavez’ Impala burst into flames and became fully engulfed.

Chavez was pronounced deceased at the scene. No injury to the driver of the tractor-trailer was reported.

The right lane of I-88 was closed for approximately 3 hours while authorities investigated the incident.
