According to a report from the Daily Herald, Republican Juan “Johnny” Ramos of Naperville, a candidate for the 11th Congressional seat currently held by Democrat Bill Foster, has bowed out of the race.
The report indicates that Ramos’ filing of nominating petitions was being challenged, with the number of valid petitions potentially falling under the requisite 400.
Foster, who has been in Congress 14 years, first as a representative of the 14th District and then, after the 2010 redistricting, the 11th, will face one of 6 remaining GOP candidates after the June 28 primary. These include:
Mark Carroll of North Aurora; Susan L. Hathaway-Altman of Geneva; Catalina Lauf of Woodstock; Jerry Evans of Warrenville; Andrea Heeg of Geneva and Cassandra Tanner Miller of Elgin.
Foster is running unopposed for the Democratic nomination.
