Victim Of Fatal Shooting In Elgin Last Monday Identified

The man who was shot and killed during last Monday morning’s shooting in the 200 block of North Jackson Street has now been identified by the Kane County Coroner’s Office.

The victim was 38-year-old Francisco Reyes-Hernandez of Schaumburg.

Two other victims were shot during the incident, one of whom received what Elgin police termed a “serious injury,” while the third sustained non-life-threatening wounds. The is no further information on the condition of these victims.

The shooting occurred at around 2am Monday morning. The preliminary investigation has revealed that several subjects were at the residence and, at some point, a verbal altercation ensued resulting in the victims being shot. The suspects fled the scene prior to officers’ arrival.

This was the 55th gunfire incident in Elgin this year. The record for such incidents, 64, was set in 2016.
