Kane County Sheriff deputies will be on-site at Burlington Central today.
Another social media threat to a Kane County high school was identified Saturday morning. Unlike previous such threats in the last month, the target of this threat was ambiguous.
At approximately 9:30 am Saturday morning, Kane County Sheriff’s deputies received information that there was a social media threat of violence at “Central High School.”
The problem is that there are several “Central High Schools” in both Kane County and in the region generally.
Deputies responded to Burlington Central High School and observed that there were no activities going on at school and no students present.
Upon further investigation, it appears that the threat came from a fake Snapchat account and indicated that at an unknown date there was going to be a shooting at “Central High School.” It remains unclear if the threat was focused on Burlington Central High School or a different Central High School.
As a precaution, additional Sheriff’s personnel will be on-site at Burlington Central High School today and until the investigation indicates an all clear.
Meanwhile, deputies and detectives are continuing to investigate this incident in cooperation with District officials.
