According to the Elgin police department, a male subject armed with what appeared to be a handgun successfully robbed an Elgin business in the 700 block of Walnut Avenue early this morning.
At approximately 6:40 a.m., officers responded to a report of an armed robbery at that location. According to the report, a male subject, apparently wielding a handgun, had entered the establishment and demanded money from the clerk. The clerk complied and the suspect took the currency and exited the location.
The clerk was not injured during this incident.
