After a hiatus last year because of the pandemic, Windmill City Festival returns to downtown Batavia from Aug. 27 to Aug. 29.
Brand new this year is a special lineup of 18 bands on two stages. The Riverwalk Stage is at the Peg Bond Center, 151 Island Ave., overlooking the picturesque Depot Pond. The Comedy Vault Stage will set up in the 18 E. Wilson St. parking lot, and will be for the 21-and-older crowd, with a $5 daily cover charge.
Fest-goers won’t forget the array of blues, country, disco, hair, pop, R&B, jazz, karaoke, ska and rock cover bands. There also will be a smattering of funk, soul, reggae, and hip hop in the mix, as well as bands geared for the kiddos.
Many family favorite traditions are returning, like the popular Fire Hose Challenge, Golf Challenge, Pet Competition and Craft and Vintage Market. Other events include a massive outdoor water fight, whacking golf balls out over Depot Pond (those balls float, you know), and pets showing off their adorable best. Cute pooches and other loveable pets will compete to win Best Kisser, Best Trick, Highest Jump, Best Costume and Most Unusual awards. Register your pet at windmillcityfest.com today.
Fest-goers can indulge in a bit of eco-conscious, local shopping while connecting with history you can take home at the craft fair. It’s the thrill of the hunt for a unique gift amid booths sporting unique and tantalizing hand-made crafts. The festival’s Craft & Vintage Market will be open from noon to 6 p.m. on Aug. 28 and 29 along the Batavia Riverwalk.
Festival times are 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Aug. 27, noon to 11 p.m. on Aug. 28, and noon to 6 p.m. on Aug. 29.
