Update: At 6:07, Elgin police announced that police have cleared the area and will continue the search.
A 21 year-old man being transported to the Kane County Sheriff’s Department for incarceration has escaped in the area of Randall Road and Route 64 in St. Charles.
The subject, Hugo R. Avila, described as 21 years of age, with black hair and brown eyes, approximately 5’8”, 125 pounds, last seen wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans, was last seen at approximately 1pm fleeing from the area in a northeast direction.
The subject was in custody in relation to felony traffic related offenses and was being transported to the Kane County Sheriff’s Office when he escaped from the vehicle carrying him.
Officers from the Elgin and St. Charles police departments, as well from the Kane County Sheriff’s Office, are currently on scene in St. Charles attempting to locate Mr. Avila.
