According to a Kane County State’s Attorney news release, a 35 year-old Elgin man has been charged with the strangulation of his wife, whose dead body was discovered by police Monday after her 4-year-old son was found wandering blocks from their Elgin home.

He has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the death of 33-year-old Wendy Ayllon, the release said.

Ms. Ayllon was found dead in her home Monday evening after one of her four children was found wandering 5 blocks away.

According to an Elgin Police Department report, at approximately 6:40 p.m. officers responded to the area of Lawrence Ave and North Aldine Street in Elgin for a report of a found child in the area. Through further investigation, it was determined that the child, later identified as Ms. Ayllon’s son and who was unharmed, lived in the 300 block of Heine Ave.

Upon locating the family’s home, officers found another son, also unharmed, at the front door of the residence. Further investigation revealed the body of Ms. Ayllon inside the home.

Kane County State’s Attorney Jamie Mosser issued a statement:

“The accusations represent the worst possible outcome of domestic violence, and why this office works so hard to end domestic abuse. Too often, without intervention, an abusive home situation escalates into violence, and sadly, death. That doesn’t need to happen. My thanks to Elgin Chief of Police Ana Lalley and her team for the quick and thorough investigation.”

No information has been provided about Ms. Ayllon’s other two children.

The accused is being held in the Kane County jail on $3 million bond.
