Trilogy Shooting: Were Owners Forced To Remove Outside Security? UPDATED

UPDATE:  The owners of Trilogy Lounge have voluntarily given up their liquor license and closed the business.

At a Special Liquor License Control Commission meeting called this morning by Commission Chair (and Mayor) Lora Vitek, a woman identifying herself as a spokesperson for one of Trilogy Lounge’s owners, David Brown, divulged that club security personnel who had been assigned to secure the area outside the club had been prohibited from doing so, indicating that the club was told it was a “violation of their lease.”

The spokesperson indicated that the owners believed that had outside security personnel been allowed, the shooting may have been prevented.

Security footage from a nearby business obtained exclusively by Fox Valley Magazine (below) as well as police reports suggest that the shooting did indeed happen outside the club, with the assailant approaching the victims from the parking lot adjacent, according to police.

Other comments from the meeting, including from ownership of adjacent businesses, were critical of the decision made earlier this year to grant a liquor license to Trilogy, citing the belief that such an establishment is “not a good fit” for the immediate location or the city as a whole.

Commissioner Vitek adjourned the meeting without comment from Commission members.
