The victim of yesterday’s tragic auto accident in St. Charles has been identified by St. Charles Police.

52 year-old Charles A. Fowler of Aurora was pronounced dead at Delnor Hospital following the crash of his Ford 150 into a semi-truck and trailer on Kirk Road.

His name had been withheld by authorities until his family could be notified.

Yesterday, St. Charles Police and Fire Departments responded to the vehicle crash that resulted in the death of  Mr. Fowler.

At 12:33 PM units from St. Charles Police and Fire Departments responded to the report of a vehicle crash involving injuries. Initial callers indicated that they believed one person involved might be entrapped in their vehicle.

A preliminary investigation has shown that a semi-truck and trailer was stopped facing south in the outside lane of the 1500 Blk of S. Kirk Rd. waiting for the light at Division Street. A white Ford pickup truck driven by Mr. Fowler was southbound on S. Kirk Rd. behind the semi-truck also in the outside lane of travel. Mr. Fowler did not stop and rear-ended the trailer of the semi.

Fowler was transported to Delnor Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. The driver of the semi-truck was treated by paramedics and released on scene.
