According to a press release from Oswego Police, the department has concluded its initial investigation of a fight between and 18-year-old male employee of Portillo’s Restaurant in Oswego and a 48-year-old customer on May 16.  Findings have been turned over to the Kendall County State’s Attorney for further review.

The police statement indicated that over 20 witnesses have been interviewed, including both parties directly involved in the incident, and that multiple videos – including those found on social media and security camera videos provided by the restaurant – have been reviewed.  Police reiterated that they are not aware of any videos that capture the initiation of the confrontation between the individuals.

Statements from witnesses, including the two men involved, indicate that both parties were verbally and physically aggressive towards the other, and both parties have stated that their actions were based on feeling threatened by the other.

Neither party indicated that any racial remarks were made or that they believed that any actions were racially motivated.

Both parties have refused to press charges against the other.
